Town Historian

The Town of Poughkeepsie's Historic Preservation Commission meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the white house near Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public and we welcome all interested parties.

We Invite You To Be A Part Of The Town Of Poughkeepsie's History

Do you have interesting historical artifacts in your possession that are somehow connected to the Town of Poughkeepsie's past? Would you be willing to show those things and perhaps talk about them with us-Preservation Commission members? At a recent meeting of the Preservation Commission a town couple came to us and showed/shared a box of family heir looms that were astonishing in our collective opinion. We eagerly anticipate hearing from those of you who value local history and are willing to share your personal historical collection with us. Subject: Wanted: Town of Poughkeepsie Residents With Interesting Biographies

We on the Preservation Commission are looking to establish a file of Town of Poughkeepsie residents who may have interesting biographies and would be willing to share that information with your Preservation Commission. Please send us what you have with as much complete information as possible. The person's name-the event or events of interest-How did this change things. We would like to set up files of said people to be used for future celebrations such as Black History Month, Women's History Month and other significant events. It is the intent of the Preservation Commission that all information in this proposed archive will be user submitted.
