With the support and direction of our Police Department, the Town of Poughkeepsie will be offering a Woman’s Safety Awareness initiative on Thursday, June 13 from 6-8pm. This program is designed to raise awareness of women’s safety measures, promote dialog and strengthen individuals, families and communities.
Our objective is to…
- Encourage and empower women and raise awareness of safety measures.
- Recognize the important role that your instincts and gut reaction(s) play.
- Discover potentially dangerous situations and how to navigate them.
- Learn to make a safety plan.
- Decrease the odds of becoming a victim.
This event is not geared towards “self-defense”, but rather it is an informative discussion about the dangerous situation that could potentially plague us each day and how to better approach these situations.
This is an “ALL AGES EVENT”. Please feel free to share this information with your friends, colleagues and neighbors.
The presentation will be hosted by the Town’s first female Lieutenant, Shannon Rodriguez, and Officer Lindsay Marinelli. Any interested employees are encouraged to reach out and register for this free event.
