Town ParklandsTown Parklands

The Town of Poughkeepsie owns and operates nearly 300 acres of parkland in 22 separate parks. They range in size from 162 acres to a half-acre. We have 18 Neighborhood Parks. They are small, neighborhood-oriented parks with limited facilities. Many of these parks include playground equipment and a ballfield.

Our three Community Parks (Greenvale, Red Oaks Mills, and Stanley Still) are larger parks, with more facilities designed to meet the needs of the whole town. Between these three parks, there are 6 baseball fields, 7 soccer fields, 2 pavilions, 3 playgrounds, 4 basketball courts, and 2 tennis courts.

Peach Hill Park is our Park Preserve. At 160 acres, is our largest town park. The entrance is located at 32 Edgewood Drive off Salt Point Turnpike. Edgewood Drive is across from the Dutchess Racquet Club. The park includes the highest point in the Town, an old apple orchard, and abundant wildlife. Four miles of trails at Peach Hill lead walkers to some of the nicest views in the Hudson Valley. The Friends of Peach Hill help the Town run the park. Among the special events, they help organize are an Apple Cider Ramble, Moonrise hikes, birding hikes, and school class trips.
