15 Conklin St

15 Conklin Street

15 Conklin Street is the most superbly maintained and restored home in New Hamburg.  Surrounded by mature and intelligently landscaped gardens and a fine board & batten barn/out building, this excellent house sits at the corner of Conklin Street and Academy Street on the uphill side of Crow Hill as testament to the level of quality attention and upkeep of a period house that the Commission hopes for in all period buildings in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

The main house is a late 1860s Victorian designed and built by Asa Conklin and his partner George Smith with a handsome front porch overlooking the Hudson River, a western side main entrance with portico, a rear kitchen extension that predates the main house, and a handsome Gothic Revival 1840s barn, two-story out building.
